How to open Chrome in safe mode / incognito browsing?


Google Chrome is a feature rich browser that allows us to launch the browser in safe mode or incognito mode without any third party scripts or extensions. Incognito or Safe Browsing mode is available in the list of menu options and easily invoked using the keyboard shortcut.

  1. Launch Chrome browser on your PC.
  2. Click on the After3 dots vertical icon located at the top right.
  3. To select Private browsing mode in the menu that appears.

That’s it. Chrome will open a new incognito window in which all of your extensions and tracking scripts will be disabled.

The first method involves three instruction steps. However, you can also narrow it down to just one set of handy keyboard shortcuts. All you have to do is launch the browser and press the button Ctrl + Change + NOT chrome hot keys.

Chrome will then launch a new incognito window and your task will be completed.

Here are the steps to open Chrome always in Safe Mode on Windows OS:

  1. Head to the Chrome shortcut icon through which you access the browser.
  2. Right click for the context menu and select Properties.
  3. Go to his Shortcut section and consult its Target field. It should spell something like this:
    "C:Program Files (x86)GoogleChromeApplicationchrome.exe"

  4. Add a space followed by -incognito keyword after quotes. Thus, the target would then be modified to:
    "C:Program Files (x86)GoogleChromeApplicationchrome.exe" -incognito

  5. Press on Apply followed by Okay.

Now whenever you launch Chrome via this shortcut, it will always be launched in Safe Mode. However, if you want to undo this change at any time, delete the -incognito last word of Target field.

So these are the three different methods by which you can open Chrome browser in Safe Mode or Incognito Mode. While these add-ons undoubtedly add more functionality to the browser, they are not without problems.
